Today we’re going to talk about how to stay fit while travelling. When you’re on the go, staying fit isn’t always an easy thing to do – but it’s important! Now that more and more people are travelling (some travel as part of their jobs) we’ve had lots of people asking us how they can stay fit while away from home. Whether you’re on vacation or on an extended business trip, these tips will help you stay fit and healthy no matter where you are!

1) Get Moving in Transit

If you’re one of those people who finds it difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle while traveling, don’t worry. There are plenty of ways to stay fit and healthy when you’re on the go.
Try to exercise on your way to the airport or hotel when possible. You can walk from your house to the bus stop, or use a pedometer to track how many steps you take in a day. This might sound like extra work, but it will help wake up and stretch out your muscles before sitting for long periods on an airplane or during your flight. Walking is also a great way to explore new places and get an idea of what’s around you without using any gas or spending money.
Use your time on an airplane wisely. Just because you have to sit for hours doesn’t mean you can’t stay active. You can even use part of your flight time to exercise by stretching, doing simple exercises or calisthenics, or doing yoga poses. If possible, buy a seat with extra legroom so you have more room to move around during your flight. This can also allow you to stretch out both legs while they’re fully extended without having someone in front of you kicking one of them away (this is especially important if you’re tall). Even if a flight is long and uncomfortable, there’s no reason why it has to be counterproductive when it comes to staying fit and healthy.

2) Always Bring Your Sports Gear

To stay fit while traveling, always bring your sports gear. For example, bring a jump rope or a set of resistance bands that you can carry with you in your luggage. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and pack clothing that will allow you to move freely. Keep water close by at all times, so that you don’t forget to drink enough fluids when exercising. It is also important to stretch before and after working out to avoid injury and maintain the range of motion in muscles. Finally, make sure to eat healthy food options so as not to disrupt your body’s natural metabolism.
If you have time, find a nearby gym to use while traveling and sign up. If not, you can always find hotel gyms or parks in your area to work out at. Even if there are no gyms nearby, try to walk as much as possible when traveling from place to place. Not only will it keep you fit, but it will also keep you from getting too tired during long trips that include a lot of sitting in cars or planes. For more convenient ways to stay active on your travels, be sure to bring along items such as jump ropes and resistance bands so that you can build muscle tone easily wherever you go!

3) Plan Ahead – Book Physical Activities

Planning ahead can help you stay on track with your fitness goals. Book an activity in advance, or find out if there are any gyms near the hotel where you are staying. If you’re not able to book a gym, then do some research about what physical activities you can do in the area (hiking, biking, running, walking) and map out a route. There’s no need to limit yourself to what’s available at your destination – it might be better to bring some of your own gear like a jump rope or resistance bands so that you have more options when traveling.

4) Avoid Stress Eating

The key to not overindulging while traveling is to have a plan and stick with it. One of the most important things you can do is avoid stress eating. Once you start, it’s difficult to stop and you may find yourself feeling uncomfortable and regretful. There are two key methods for avoiding stress eating when traveling: 1) Pack your own food, or 2) Be prepared by ordering in advance. Planning ahead is the best way to keep yourself on track so that you don’t fall off course.
If you’re driving somewhere, be sure to get out of the car and walk around for at least five minutes every hour. If public transportation is involved, try walking between subway stations instead of riding escalators.
For many people who travel frequently as part of their job, exercise becomes secondary to business obligations such as meetings or presentations. What they don’t realize until they return home is how much they’ve been missing out on! It’s easier than ever now to stay on top of fitness goals with so many workout apps available – download one today!

5) Don’t Go Hungry

The first and most important tip is to make sure you’re getting enough of the right food. You might be tempted to eat unhealthy foods because they are more convenient or cheaper, but it will just lead to you feeling lousy and being unable to work out. Try not to skip breakfast or lunch, even if it seems like a hassle. Remember that your health is worth it.
The second tip is to pack a lot of healthy snacks in your carry-on bag. It’s always good to have something with you when you need an energy boost or just want something that won’t make you feel gross later (even if the hotel provides them). A granola bar, fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, trail mix and protein bars are all great options. If you’re going somewhere where there are plenty of fruits and vegetables, then it might not be necessary to bring any extras. But if you’ll be in a city where produce isn’t readily available, these would be my go-to choices.
The third tip is to try and stay active while traveling by taking walks around the airport or using the gym at your hotel. If possible, I’d recommend signing up for classes such as Zumba or spinning beforehand so that you’re not sitting around watching TV all day waiting for your flight. Alternatively, sign up for classes while traveling by checking online sites such as Classpass which offer discounted rates at different studios across different cities!
